For more than two decades, the OED has been helping the poorest people in Transcarpathia with food, firewood, programmes for children and the elderly. In recent years, the deepening economic hardships caused by the war conflict have put many families in Transcarpathia in difficult situations. Now, ahead of the most difficult winter months for the destitute, the charity is launching a fundraising campaign on donation line 1353, which will be accompanied by a major community running event, the Berehovo Charity Half Marathon, organised for the fifth time, where Dániel Gyurta, Olympic champion swimmer, will be running for the cause.
