Memorial plaque in honour of Prof. Dr. Lajos Dávid in Szeged

“In faith is humility, in humility knowledge, in knowledge strength, in strength will, in will deeds, in deeds life” – this thought can now be read on the wall of the National Memorial Hall in Szeged, on the memorial plaque of Prof. Dr. Lajos Dávid.

On 15 April, the University of Szeged, the Hungarian Pharmacy Society and the Hungarian Chamber of Pharmacy held a joint ceremony to commemorate the founder of the University Pharmacy and Institute of Pharmacy, the founder of pharmacy education in Szeged.

Professor Lajos Dávid was not only a scientist, but also an exemplary man who lived and worked in the spirit of human dignity and Christian charity. His work defined the education of physicians and pharmacists in Szeged and he was the first to write a textbook on pharmaceutical production in Hungarian.

The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by a number of renowned professional and public figures, including Minister Balázs Hankó, Prof. Dr. László Rovó, Rector of the University of Szeged, Bishop László Kiss-Rigó and representatives of the Dávid family.

A fitting tribute to a man whose legacy continues to shape the future of Hungarian pharmacy.
